Purposes of Practicum

This teaching practice is very important to me. The purpose of this practice is to improve teaching skills, improve English skills. This practice can also be used as an opportunity to get teaching experience. With this practice, I also learn about different cultures from my country. Therefore, I can learn many things such as different attitudes, cultures, and habits.

Procedures of practicum

The first in this practice program is the opening of the campus. Next, we observe the campus and school environment where we practice. We also observed in the BSU library, which is the main library there.

After observation of the school environment. we (i and Anisa) met with our teacher mentor , he is sir. Aris Canyon. Sir Aris is very kind and friendly. actually, the first impression when meeting Sir. Aris, we thought that he was someone who was arrogant and didn't care. But after getting to know Sir. Aris is a very kind and friendly person, he always teaches us how to prepare a learning plan. He also always gave evaluations and gave suggestions about what I should improve in teaching.

After making observations I started to make lesson plans, I had to submit my lesson plan one day before I teaching. After that, my lesson plan was corrected by Sir. Aris and if there was a mistake we had to fix it. After the lesson plan is correct, then I am ready to teach the next day.

every teaching is always accompanied by a teacher mentor. After the teaching is complete, the teacher will provide an evaluation of the teaching that has been done.

Outcomes of Practicum

The outcomes of this practice are that I have a lot of experience both from the environment and friends there. I learned a lot about how to teach correctly, how to prepare for learning and also managed in teaching. so now I know how to make a lesson plan. I can also improve my English. I learned a lot about attitudes, culture, and habits there.

The Challenges of Practicum

The challenges of practicum are the temperatures in the Philippines are very cold. Really this is beyond my expectation, at first I thought there wouldn't be a problem with the weather there. But when I first came to the Philippines I was surprised because the temperature was very cold. So we have to use double blankets while sleeping. Luckily at the dormitory, we have a water heater so we don't get cold if we take a shower.

And another biggest challenge for me is my English skills are not well. when I first teach, I was confused about how to deliver learning. But I keep trying even though it's difficult.

Overall Impression

Overall impressions, I am very excited to join this program. In this program I met with good friends, they are all like family for me. I have had a lot of fun experiences and valuable lessons. I know friends from other countries and they are very kind and friendly. I learned the culture of habits, how to appreciate the difference of opinion. I also learned to speak boldly in front of the crowd. The point is I'm very happy to join this SEA-Teacher program.
